The average selling price in its housebuilding division fell by 8 per cent to £430,000, at a time when prices in its heartlands of London and the southeast of England generally rose. Completions rose 53 per cent to 1,197. Ian Sutcliffe, chief executive, said a decision had been taken three years ago to reposition the housebuilding side and make homes more affordable.
