As we know, things didn't really work out for Van Gaal and he was eventually sacked for Jose Mourinho. A powerful, hardworking performer that Van Gaal brought in to rough things up a bit. Lacks the quality and finesse to be a regular United player however, and is on the scrapheap under Mourinho. Was brilliant when first signed by Van Gaal, becoming a regular member of the first team and looking every bit the long-term Patrice Evra replacement. But he clashed with Van Gaal and was eventually sent packing after featuring twice.
