Lost bushwalker rescued during coronavirus lockdown 'put search volunteers at risk'

The man went walking in some bush near Maunu, Whangārei. Search and rescue volunteers were forced to break their self isolation to look for a lost man who broke coronavirus lockdown rules to go for a bush walk. One of the volunteers said the man not only put his own safety as risk but that of the rescuers and their families. A police spokesman confirmed an elderly man went missing while walking in Maunu on Sunday morning. During the lockdown people are able to exercise in their neighbourhood or travel to essential services such as supermarkets or pharmacies.
