You know how an old spiritual goes: “I once was lost but now am found.” I believe that refers to the soul of a sinner, not a set of car keys. Last week, I shared the story of a young woman who lost her brand new iPhone down a storm drain. Elery Caskey of Rockville, Md., once lost his keys — house, office, car — while stepping onto his sailboat. “Without the keys we couldn’t open the hatch, start the auxiliary motor or even drive home to get spares,” he wrote. He moved from his left hand to his right a Navy service ring an old friend had given him, equivalent in size and weight to the ring he had lost.
