Losing the captaincy to Brendon McCullum after a tour of Sri Lanka in 2012 worked to Taylor’s advantage. Turner said T20 cricket had humbled Taylor and might have cost him a fortune. Taylor was a composed batsman although he undid a lot of that in T20, Turner said. Turner was not a fan of T20 cricket calling it the ‘‘fossil fuel’’ of the game.
