However, IOC President Thomas Bach didn’t want to lose either Paris or Los Angeles as a potential host city. According to people who have been working on the deal, Los Angeles—in exchange for waiting an additional four years to play host—will receive funding for sports programs. Bach decided earlier this year the IOC needs Paris and Los Angeles.
