JOHOR BARU: A lorry driver was sentenced to one day's jail and fined RM20,000 by the Sessions Court here for bribing a Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) officer in May last year. The accused, Ng Jian Dar, 25, pleaded guilty when the charge was read out to him in Mandarin before judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir on Monday. The incident took place during an operation at Batu 3, Jalan Kluang-Mersing, at around 12.15pm on May 12 last year. Ng, who was not represented, asked for a lighter sentence as he said he had to support his parents and his five siblings. Judge Mohd Fauzi then ordered the accused to one day's imprisonment and a fine of RM20,000.
