Lorry driver fined RM10,000 for offering RM300 bribe to MACC officer - Nation

KUALA LUMPUR: A 45-year-old lorry was fined RM10,000 at the Sessions Court here for offering a RM300 bribe to a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer. How Ah Lai pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced by Sessions Judge Madihah Harullah to the fine and one week in prison. How had initially pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea during case management on Monday. Defence lawyer Datuk Rajpal Singh asked for leniency, saying his client had repented and was saving the court's time by pleading guilty. He urged the court not to impose a long prison sentence as How was his family's sole breadwinner.
