I was willing to go down the “too much, too soon” narrative route for about half of Lorde’s show at the Air Canada Centre on Thursday night, as it really did appear in the early going that the young New Zealand pop singer had, perhaps, been elevated to the arena level just a tad prematurely. And she has, all things considered. Musicians used to have to be somewhat more seasoned and put in a few years to graduate to rooms of such capacious size, even with a monster worldwide hit single on the order of 2013’s indelible “Royals” under their belts. The longer the performance went on, though, the more that maybe seemed to be the point. Even she admitted that she wasn’t entirely comfortable with the situation.
