As a result of the wintry conditions a decent chunk of preparation work is happening, which is critical to the success of the coming summer tennis season. It is a largely underestimated and unknown part of our coaching operation, and the background work is both unescapable and necessary. Those who do not put the time into their communication and preparation often pay a large price with the success of their business. I estimate there is a minimum of one hour's work off the court for every hour on the court. Relationships are important, not just with the person on the court, but also with the parents, family and support networks.
