Look who’s talking good about DuterteSenator Leila de Lima lauded yesterday the “sheer boldness” of President Duterte’s determined anti-drug campaign by coming hard on elective officials who breached their oath of office when they involved themselves in the multi-billion-peso illegal drug operations. Since the President’s political campaign theme was to rid the country of illegal drug operations in three to six months, the President is now hard pressed and is rushing in making that campaign promise a success, she said. A former Justice Secretary, De Lima gave the President, a lawyer, the benefit of the doubt in his determination to wipe out the scourge of illegal drugs as he must uphold the supremacy of the law. De Lima, who chairs the Senate Justice and Human Rights Committee, said the President’s use of the phrase “shoot-to-kill’’ when addressing his police force might just be a strategy to instill fear in the hearts of illegal drug protectors or drug lords.
