Longtime Rancho Bernardo resident Elsie Lipscomb has traveled extensively in her 105 years. Other travels during their marriage included Mexico, England, Ireland, Spain, North Africa, the Panama Canal, South Africa, Hawaii, Alaska, Yugoslavia and Hungary. AdvertisementThe places Lipscomb visited were vastly different than the small Minnesota farm where she was born and grew and up. The driving lessons were an incentive for her to practice the piano since their mother wanted Lipscomb to take piano lessons. They were considering Santa Barbara, but decided to visit Rancho Bernardo after hearing about it while buying prunes at Knotts Berry Farm.
