Bill Shera has gone from being the football dad on the sidelines to barely being able to get through the day. The 48-year-old New Plymouth man, who is fully vaccinated and had his booster shot, was diagnosed with long Covid after having the virus in March. There does not appear to be a relationship between initial severity of infection and the likelihood of developing long Covid. The Disability Rights Commissioner has said the ongoing burden of long Covid will be one of this generation’s disability challenges. As well as fatigue long Covid symptoms can include fever, body pains, gastrointestinal symptoms, nausea, diarrhoea, weight loss, and reduced appetite.
