London Stansted, Manchester and East Midlands airport bosses to axe almost 900 jobs

The Manchester Airport Group (MAG) said it has entered consultation with hundreds of workers, as travel demand remains low amid a second rise in coronavirus cases. The company said the decision follows a 90% reduction in demand for travel since March, compared with last year. The latest cuts affect 465 roles at Manchester Airport, 376 roles at London Stansted Airport and 51 roles at East Midlands Airport. All of these proposed measures will be subject to consultation with MAG’s unions and staff across Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands Airports, a statement said. Unfortunately, the resurgence of the virus across Europe and the reintroduction of travel restrictions have meant this has not happened.
