Lok Sabha passes DNA Bill


A Bill that provides for the regulation of use and application of DNA technology for establishing the identity of certain categories of persons, including offenders, victims, suspects and undertrials, was passed in Lok Sabha on January 8. Also Read Bill for use of DNA technology to know certain persons' identity introduced in LSOn concerns of members on the misuse of the Bill, he said misuse could happen of anything at any level. Terming it a comprehensive Bill, he said it had taken a long duration of 14-15 years to bring this Bill to this stage. It provided for the establishment of a national DNA data bank and regional DNA data banks. Participating in the debate, Sanjay Jaiswal (BJP) said that future of the world was on the DNA Technology.
