Lok Sabha election: Sukhpal Singh Khaira focuses on Lambi villages to turn tide in his favour

Punjab Democratic Alliance candidate from Bathinda and chief of Punjab Ekta Party, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, is toiling hard to woo the voters in villages falling under the Lambi assembly segment — a stronghold of Badals. Addressing a public meeting at Sikhawala village, he raked up the spurt in cancer and hepatitis patients in the area, while accusing the Badals of failing to address the issue. Lambi assembly segment was the deciding factor in 2014 LS polls, when SAD candidate Harsimrat Kaur Badal secured a lead of 35,000 votes and managed to win Bathinda seat by a narrow margin 19,000 against Manpreet Singh Badal of the Congress. Addressing a meet in Wanwala village , Khaira said, “If people feel that Badals have done enough for the development of the area people should vote for Harsimrat and if they are feeling like cheated, people should vote for me.”“Badals are businessmen. They are responsible for sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and it is high time to teach them a lesson.”First Published: Apr 20, 2019 21:41 IST
