Lockdown of Mandaluyong’s COVID ‘hotspot’ starts today

MANDALUYONG, Philippines — Another village in Mandaluyong City considered as a “hotspot” for the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 will be placed under total lockdown starting today. The lockdown, which will be implemented until Wednesday night, aims to stop the spread of COVID-19 infections in Barangay Mauway, which posted 71 cases as of May 9. Mayor Menchie Abalos yesterday signed an executive order, placing Barangay Mauway under lockdown. During the lockdown, the city government will conduct rapid testing for 3,000 residents. As of Saturday, Mandaluyong recorded 466 cases of COVID-19 with 37 deaths and 129 recoveries.
