A complete lockdown or an aggressive lockdown is needed in India just like last year, said AIIMS chief Dr Randeep Guleria even as the country is grappling with a massive COVID-19 crisis. Dr Guleria stressed that a strict lockdown should be imposed in areas reporting positive rates over 10 per cent. Exactly a month ago, Dr Guleria had said that a "mini lockdown" is needed in the country to contain the rapid spread of the virus. Dr Guleria said that the virus is rapidly spreading because of people's callousness and because of o social distancing. India recorded 392,488 new cases in the previous 24 hours to push total cases to 19.56 million.
