Local wines recognised 2016 Romeo Bragato Wine AwardsNeil Smith Aronui Wines' vineyard manager Jonny Hiscox (pictured) and his team have produced a winning Pinot Gris at this year's Brigato Wine Awards. The Bragato Wine Awards are held each year as part of the New Zealand Winegrowers Romeo Bragato National Conference, and recognise viticultural excellence. Nelson's Whenua Matua Vineyard was also recognised for its Aronui Pinot Gris Single Vineyard Nelson 2016 in winning the Brother Cyprian Trophy. Whenua matua vineyard manager and chair of Nelson Winegrowers Asssociation Jonny Hiscox was pleased with the result. "A wine maker can make great wine, but he can't make great wine from rubbish grapes," he said.
