Sergio Salis, of Dunedin, competes at the New Zealand petanque senior doubles championships at Montecillo on Saturday. Salis teamed up with Warren McConnell to make it through to the final but they lost to Graeme Morris and Margaret Penny, of Masterton and Herne Bay, in the final. The final was tied up at 11-11 before the visitors pushed on to take the title 13-11. A total of 24 pairs competed in the championships. Neville Frost, of Dunedin, and Marilyn Bunce, of Alexandra, won the trophy consolation.
