According to a citinewsroom.com report on January 6, 2026, Prince Boakye Boateng, the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, said assemblies must deploy all available resources to restore cleanliness in their jurisdictions. He noted that MMDAs are permitted to recruit temporary sanitation workers where necessary, particularly using funds generated from toll collections to help manage sanitation challenges. “We encourage them to recruit temporary staff, using the funds collected from tolls, to assist in managing filth,” he said. He warned that without collective efforts from both authorities and the public; sanitation problems could escalate and lead to disease outbreaks.
