Local firefighters graduate from state fire academy


STOW – Several local firefighters were scheduled to graduate from the firefighters academy on Friday. In all 40 firefighters from two separate sessions of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy were scheduled to graduate at a ceremony at the Department of Fire Services in Stow. The two academies, one held in Bridgewater and the other in Stow, is a 50-day training program and is offered tuition-free. “This rigorous professional training provides our newest firefighters with the basic skills to perform their jobs effectively and safely,” state Fire Marshal Peter Ostroskey said in a release.
