Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, last week unveiled an electric vehicle (EV), aimed at easing the pressure on energy and reducing carbon emission. This coupled with poor power supply is the major reason many people say EV could face a major challenge taking off. Electric vehicles are flourishing in countries like China, India, Japan, South Korea, Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, France, United States Canada, among others. Many companies are bullish about electric cars with the largest automaker reportedly setting an aggressive 2025 deadline for phasing out all internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles,” he said. That implies Hyundai Kona owners would incur only N3300 for a full charge that will do a running of 482 kms, if he or she plugs the car into the public power supply.
