STELLAR passenger traffic growth of local airports in the first six months has set the tone for a robust second half, said analysts. Attractive ringgit, higher capacity among local and foreign carriers and booming Chinese outbound tourism would continue to boost passenger traffic growth, they added. MIDF Research said the growth was driven by international traffic that expanded 14.5 per cent year-on-year, outpacing domestic traffic growth of 8.1 per cent. MAHB would benefit from rising passenger traffic growth, which translates to higher passenger service charge (PSC) revenue collection and retail sales, it added. Rakuten Trade head of research Kenny Yee echoed MIDF Research’s optimism on higher passenger traffic growth in the second half.
