The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama, in April indicated that the election of municipal, metropolitan and district chief executives (MMDCEs) will come off in 2021. She said this when she shared a tentative timetable of the activities of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) towards the election of MMDCEs at a round-table discussion organized by the Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA) and the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee (IMCC). Speaking with Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka AM Drive, Nana Adjei Boateng, mentioned that the Ministry has started regional tours to interact with opinion leaders to sensitize and engage Ghanaians on the issue. He added that the Attorney General’s Department will draft the Bill that will be forwarded to Cabinet and then to Parliament.
