Livid with low prices for crops, 28-year-old farmer threatens to jump off Mantralaya in Mumbai


Dyaneshwar Salve, 28, from Maslakhurd village of Osmanabad district of the drought-prone Marathwada region, demanded to meet chief minister Devendra Fadnavis or agriculture minister Pandurang Fundkar. A soyabean farmer, Salve told officials that he was agitated as he has not received the “correct price” for his produce. He claimed to have got only Rs19,000 for his produce, which according to him, was less than the input cost. “He was demanding better prices for agriculture produce for the farmers and implementing recommendations of Swaminathan Commission report, which suggests the same. He has also shared a photo with a caption of him joining the NCP on February 13 this year.
