Liverpool were said to be thinking about scrapping the fixture after the Premier League fixtures were announced. Their clash with Norwich will be the new campaign's curtain raiser and, as is now tradition, it will be played on the Friday night (August 6). Liverpool’s game with Schalke was scheduled to be played only three days before on August 6 and previous reports claim the club are worried about playing two games in such close proximity. “#LFC's planned pre-season friendly against @s04 on Tuesday, August 6 has been postponed,” they said on Twitter.
