Two goals within 2:24 of the third period sealed the deal for the home team. Jordie Benn’s giveaway became a Viktor Arvidsson goal 11 minutes into the third. Brian Boyle had completed a nice passing play to give Nashville a 2-1 lead at 8:36. Tomas Tatar batted an Andrew Shaw feed past Pekka Rinne 5:26 into the final period to tie the game 1-1 and briefly ignite hope for the Canadiens. Ryan Hartman backhanded a fat rebound past Carey Price to open the scoring, halfway through the second period.
