Thom Tillis on Wednesday described President Donald Trump’s posture toward Greenland and Denmark as “disrespectful,” especially considering how many Danes served and lost their lives alongside American service members in Afghanistan. Speaking with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Tillis recounted visiting a war memorial in Denmark recently. Tillis gave Trump credit for pushing more NATO member countries to contribute percentages of their GDP to defense spending. The speech, he said, was a “missed opportunity.”Tillis said the only people happy with the tumult in NATO right now are China’s Xi Jinping and Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
