A car hit a power pole on Lanesdown Rd, bringing live wires down and trapping the occupant inside. One person was trapped in their car as a crash near Nelson brought live powerlines down. A police spokeswoman said an incident was reported at 3:50pm involving a vehicle which had hit a power pole on Lower Queen St, on Wednesday afternoon. Live powerlines were down and understood to be touching the vehicle. Motorists using Lower Queen St are advised that a diversion is in place at Swamp Road, while the State Highway 60 turn-off to Lansdowne Rd is closed.
