Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has delayed the election by a month to October 17. Ardern said she made the decision after consulting with the leaders of all parties in Parliament, but there would never be complete consensus. Ardern said the dissolution of Parliament would be delayed to September 7 and Parliament would sit tomorrow. Options previously put forward by the Electoral Commission are October 17 or November 21.
