Ming XiForbes China, the Chinese-language edition of Forbes, is out with a look at 10 top mainland Chinese supermodels in its new March-April issue. 2 in luxury purchases again last year with a 22% market share, down from 23% a year earlier. Growth in spending on luxury fashion in China is boosting demand for the services of Chinese designers and models (see related post here). “Compared with several years ago, you see more and more Chinese models turning up on runways at fashion shows around the world” to promote domestic and international brands, says Maggie Chen, deputy managing editor of Forbes China and list compiler. The list is based on interviews with modeling agents and industry researchers who were asked to assess endorsements, brand strength, social media influence, fashion influence and runway performance.
