Following Deputy President William Ruto's footsteps, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua believes that the second lady's office will be a prayerful one, thanks to his wife Dorcas Wanjiru. His assertion succeeded an emotional prayer at his nomination rally delivered by his wife Dorcas just before the announcement was made. According to insiders, however, Dorcas is known as a very religious individual and runs her own Church in Mathira Constituency which she uses to spread the word of God. In 2021, she received a Honorary Doctorate from Breakthrough International Bible University in recognition of her commitment in serving widows under the Dorcas Rigathi Mercy Ministries.
