Little Footprints bicycle expeditions takes learning up a gear

Little Footprints bicycle expeditions takes learning up a gearBraden Fastier/Fairfax NZ Four-year-old students from Little Footprints Early Learning Centre in Tahunanui go for a bike ride together to the Tahunanui Library as part of weekly Little Peddlars expeditions. For about six years Little Footprints head teacher Stu Cottam has welcomed the admiring "awwws" but he said what kept the Little Pedallers programme going was its success in building confident, happy, healthy children. "I have very few kids that leave here when they go to school who can't ride a pedal bike," Cottam said. He believed those skills meant children went on to tackle any challenge thrown at them in future. He said the Little Pedallers programme was about fun and exploring the world outside the playground.
