Connecticut jazz performer Nicole Zuraitis won a Grammy Award on Sunday for her album, “How Love Begins,” in the category for best jazz vocal album. It was the second nomination for the Connecticut native and noted jazz performer. She grew up in Northwest Connecticut, attending Litchfield public schools and graduating from Holy Cross High School in Waterbury. The singer/songwriter’s first Grammy nomination was in 2019, for Best Arrangement, Instrument with Vocals, for her version of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” which was co-written with drummer and bandleader Dan Pugach. She is an educator and currently on the vocal faculty at NYU, SUNY Purchase and the Litchfield Jazz Camp.
