KUALA LUMPUR: The list of traffic offences under the Demerit Points System (Kejara) will be increased by the end of the year, says Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai. The Transport Minister said that about 20 more offences will be added, include overtaking along double lines and driving on the emergency lane. "We just want our drivers to be careful and help reduce road accidents. Liow also said that the Government wants to include road safety education in schools on top of improved safety for road and vehicle designs. The Automated Awareness Safety System (Awas) which incorporates Kejara and the AES (Automated Enforcement System) was implemented on April 15 this year.
