Lions attack coach takes notes from England's World Cup final loss to Boks

As the British & Irish Lions prepare for their series against South Africa, attack coach Gregor Townsend has properly dissected England's Rugby World Cup final loss to the Springboks. In an interview with The Telegraph, Townsend opened up about the thought processes that went into picking the 37-man Lions squad and said England's 2019 World Cup final defeat would shape their game plan. The Scotland head coach said 30 minutes before the final Lions selection meeting with head coach Warren Gatland, he decided to review the World Cup final where the Springboks thumped England 32-12 in Yokohama. This match on 2 November 2019 was also the last time the Boks were in action. "We met at 1:30pm and in the half hour before I remember I watched back clips of the World Cup final to review one player again," Townsend said.
