The deadly crash of a Lion Air jet in the Java Sea has renewed questions about the safety of Indonesian airlines, not long after US and European regulators removed prohibitions against them. The Lion Air crash appears to be the first involving the Boeing 737 Max 8, a more fuel-efficient update of Boeing's popular 737, the best-selling airliner ever. Lion Air received the jet involved in the crash just two months ago.
