Linton Army rugby closer to extinction as malaise sets in

RUGBY: Overshadowing round five of Manawatū club rugby on Saturday was the unwelcome default by Linton Army to Varsity. It was the first default since Linton bowed out to Feilding Old Boys in 2007, but then they completed the season. This will have implications for NZ Army and New Zealand Defence Force rugby because Linton often supplies half of those sides. DAVID UNWIN/STUFF James Tofa scored an early try for College Old Boys in their win over Old Boys-Marist. In a thriller at Johnston Park, Feilding, Feilding Old Boys-Ōroua came from 24-3 down to beat Kia Toa 27-24, although Kias scored four tries to three.
