One person has been killed in a crash near Lincoln, one of two fatal crashes in the South Island yesterday. In another crash, a person died in a crash near Athol, in Southland. Police said one person died and two others were injured. Further south, emergency services were called to the scene of the single-vehicle crash on State Highway 6 near Athol, about 5pm. One person died and four people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
