PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s economic growth can only prosper by moving away from policies promoting racial or religious hostility, says Lim Guan Eng. In a Christmas greeting, the Finance Minister urged Malaysians to unite and reject racists and religious extremists to ensure economic growth. "Should these racists and religious extremists succeed, Malaysia would face not just ruin and deprivation, but our children’s future would also be destroyed. "Our challenge is to improve the economic welfare of the rakyat, especially the lower-income groups in the B40," said Lim. Meanwhile, his father Lim Kit Siang echoed his sentiments and urged Malaysians to build Malaysia into a "top nation" where Malaysians and accept and celebrate their diversities of faith.
