Lilium workers assemble a prototype of its five-seat electric aircraft. “The control system is not as jittery as it was in the previous prototype,” Ansell says. Lilium says the aircraft has hit 60 miles per hour in testing, and the company is aiming to move on to testing it at its maximum speed. The consultancy Roland Berger counts 170 electric aircraft startups worldwide. Lilium aims to be able to produce hundreds of aircraft a year by the time it launches service in 2025.
