The Isaac Theatre Royal is made up to look like a 1950s cinema for the film Heavenly Creatures. Christchurch was a city of gardens and faux Gothic buildings but it was also a city of movie theatres, which ringed Cathedral Square. When Lloyd first screened the film in Christchurch, the time capsule response was a familiar one.
