Light earthquake rattles WanakaGEONET People from around the wider Central Otago region reported feeling the quake. Some people thought Wanaka's light earthquake on July 2 was a sharp jolt, but others thought it was no more than a leg twitch. The 4.4 magnitude earthquake rattled Wanaka at 11:21am on Sunday July 2 and was also felt in Arrowtown, Luggate and Beaumont. According to Geonet's website, it occurred 25km south of Wanaka, at a depth of 5km, beside Lake Dunstan. With 11 minutes, 262 people had reported to Geonet that the shake was "light", while another 343 described it as "weak".
