Life slowly returns to Ekiti as INEC retrieves election materials


Abiodun Nejo, Ado EkitiLife returned to Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, gradually on Saturday afternoon following the postponement of the presidential and National Assembly elections which the residents had prepared for. In the morning, shops and business units were shut just as the roads were deserted by commercial and private vehicles. The Peoples Democratic Party Chairman in Ekiti State, Chief Gboyega Oguntuase, said he was at the Afao Ekiti home of former governor, Ayodele Fayose, where other party leaders were expectedly locked up in a meeting. Meanwhile, the INEC in Ekiti State said it has begun moves to retrieve the non-sensitive and sensitive materials already dispatched. INEC Public Relations Officer in the state, Alhaji Taiwo Gbadegesin, said, “We have dispatched vehicles and security agents to the different areas to convey the electoral materials back to INEC”.
