DHAKA, Feb 22, 2026 (BSS) – A court has convicted and sentenced five people, including a couple, to life imprisonment for the 2022 murder of Mohammadpur resident Md Amir Hossain. The convicts are Kabir Hossain, his wife Swapna Begum, Md Humayun, Md Falan, and Md Milon alias Nuru. According to the case statement, the victim, Amir Hossain, used to run a tea and cigarette shop at Palashi More in Dhaka. On January 21, 2022, at around 10:00 pm, after closing his shop, Amir was lured to Rayer Bazar in Mohammadpur by Kabir and four others, where Swapna was waiting. The next day, Amir’s brother Md Zakir Hossain filed a murder case at Mohammadpur Police Station against Swapna, Kabir, and three others.
