German supermarket chain Lidl is building a new supermarket in Armação de Pêra, where it is also teaming up with Silves Council to construct an urban park in the Quinta dos Arcos urbanisation. But the supermarket chain will also look to give something back to the local community with the construction of an urban park near the supermarket. The protocol making the deal official between the local council and the supermarket chain was signed last week. The 8,000sqm urban park will be open to the whole population and will include a “multifunctional” grass pitch, a skatepark, an amphitheatre and a stage for events as well as a variety of sports fields. “The Quinta dos Arcos Urban Park is an important project for us and we hope it can make a difference to the lives of the local population,” he added.
