The Libyan joint committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the High Council of State (HCS) resumed Thursday at the UNSMIL's headquarters in Tunis after three days of suspension of the withdrawal of the HoR members. The meetings that took place Wednesday between the heads of the two committees under the supervision of the UNSMIL's Head Ghassan Salame led to some consensus over the different authorities such as the disputed Presidential Council and government issues, sources from Tunisia reported. The sources added that the committee agreed to separate the Presidential Council (PC) from the government so the PC will represent the state's sovereign institutions, while the government will do the functional work on the ground. The meeting took place and according to the sources, no clear agreed upon points were provided, however; the next session will be on next Saturday. On its website, the UNSMIL said late on Wednesday that the meetings on the margin among the HoR and the HCS members were positive and showed progress toward reaching final amendments to the LPA.
