The Minister of Education of the Presidential Council's government, Othman Abdeljalil, has resigned over the decision by the Presidential Council to split Ministry of Education into two; General Education and Higher Education. The outgoing minister said Thursday in a press statement that he had told the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj about the ramification of such a split inside the ministry, adding that he cannot remain in duty after such a decision by Al-Sarraj. "Splitting the ministry into General Education and Higher Education ministries isn't right and has no scientific basis. He added that the achievements he had made during his tenure in the education sector were very remarkable and constituted a turning point in the sector over the last years. On Thursday morning, the Presidential Council ordered splitting the Education Ministry into General Education and Higher Education ministries.
