Libyan Constitutional Track Committee agrees on 140 articles of draft constitution in Cairo meetings


CAIRO - 20 May 2022: The Libyan Constitutional Track Committee, comprising the House of Representatives and Higher Council of State, has agreed on around 140 articles of the country’s draft constitution as it concluded Cairo meetings. The Libyan Constitutional Track Committee held its meetings in the period from 15 to 20 May. The two parties agreed on the 140 articles during their meetings and will address the remaining articles in the coming negotiations soon. Head of the Libyan parliament’s delegation at the meetings Soliman Al-Faqih extended appreciation to the Egyptian government and peopleThe Libyan Constitutional Committee wrapped up earlier meetings in Cairo under the sponsorship of the UN before the vacation of Eid Al-Fitr. The UN official voiced appreciation for the Egyptian government for hosting this round of the committee meetings and praised Cairo backing for the UN efforts to achieve security and stability in Libya.
